Flute Music | Battle Of Fort Mims Re-enactment Is This Weekend
Period demonstrations of life in 1813 are planned, along with live music, food vendors and other entertainment.
A drawing for a flintlock Shenandoah Rifle will follow the last re-enactment, according to Martin McGuire, a member of Fort Mims Restoration Association and event organizer.

Saturday and Sunday schedules are:
8:50 a.m.: Reveille and call to the East Gate. 9 a.m.: Opening ceremonies, welcoming from Fort Mims Restoration Association, flag raising, Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem, Memorial Service and Placing of the Wreath by the Fort Mims Chapter DAR, gun salute by all re-enactors.
9:30 a.m.: Music, black powder gun shoot, tomahawk throw.
11 a.m.: Battle of Burnt Corn (re-enactment in wooded area beyond west wall)
Noon:Indian dancers
1 p.m.: Flute music
2 p.m.:Period toys, weapons and clothing demonstrations
3 p.m.: Battle of Fort Mims (re-enactment.) 3:30 p.m.:Tomahawk ‘Throwdown’
9 a.m.: Flag Raising.
10 a.m. Church service and singing.
11 a.m.: Battle of Burnt Corn (re-enactment in wooded area behind west wall.)
Noon: Flute music by “Buffalo Woman” (Marcia Johnston) at time of the attack on Aug. 30, 1813.)
1 p.m.Weapons and clothing demonstrations. 2 p.m.: Battle of Fort Mims (re-enactment.)
